I’ll start off with the usual disclaimer; that we know very little about chickens and have learned everything about them from this site (thanks!). With that said, we are just getting started with our second round of incubating eggs. The first round didn’t go so well with having a power outage on day 19-20 on the coldest day of the year. We lost 2 chicks and 3 potential chicks.
This time was different because we bought a generator
.
We get about an egg a day from our lonely hen so we collected about 7 eggs for incubation.
We are happy to report that we hatched 5 out of the 7 eggs and they made it past the 72 hour mark looking as healthy as can be!
Here’s a picture of the day old babies and the 3 that survived round one (~8 weeks old).
