A New Monk Brings New Chickens

*bows*
Welcome! I'm interested in how your practice informs how you care for your chickens. I studied at a Zen monastery for several years, combined Soto/Rinzai, and it changed my life.
Namaste and greetings. I'd be more than happy to share. The main thing that I really noticed in regard to raising chickens with Zen in mind is treating them more like pets then livestock. No intention to harm any of them, which means no chicken meat: only eggs. As well I will attempt to not eat any fertilized eggs, but I imagine some will slip through often. Kos loves to sit on my shoulder as I meditate as well, has her own buddha-nature she wants to deepen.

Hello TheChickenMonk
Welcome to BYC.
How badly is the cashless economy drive affecting the begging?
I know a few street artists who are having problems because fewer and fewer people carry cash.
Fairly noticeably, I never lived in a very giving community as is but let's say I am very grateful for the eggs that will soon be coming. Will make a huge impact on my dietary needs.
