Hi, can anyone give me an idea of what is going on with this one egg? Out of 6 standard Silver Appleyards I had 5 fertile, I am at the 24th day on incubation and lockdown is due, however I have got one egg that is causing me pause for thought, it is the 'WTF' egg.
On first candle all bar one (since removed) were perfectly fertile and progressing beautifully at the same speed, however on my most recent candle there is this one egg that stands out from the rest, it appears to be progressing and viable however it looks unlike the others and not like one I've had before this late in the game. I was thinking late developer? however I am just not sure, I dont want to risk leaving it in the incu if we have a potential exploder. The egg is much lighter on the interior, when candled you can see quite clearly, the air cell is good and fixed, but you can still see the yolk and a lot of "the gubbins" as the OH said, it is ticking along and you can see life inside going about its business. It is in stark contrast my others that are all viable but are dark from the growing duckling.
I am probably being paranoid and it is a slow one that is doing this in its own time. Opinion?

Yes, I did write WTF on my egg, mostly because I have been juggling a lot of eggs and hatchings presently and I kept misplacing it. I doubt it cares what is written on its shell, its only going to trash it in the end.

Hmmm. How long has it looked like this? There's a chance it's in the process passing away, because the veins look so weird and it's not really developing the same as the rest.

A little over a week, I candle every Sunday. I have just done another candle now to double check and there is good movement there. It is definitely a small embryo and I noticed the weight before even candling on Sunday. It is odd and while I am no stranger to incubating, I am no expert either and no one I know has seen one like this with a clear void where there should be veins and blood vessels etc in that section. The pictures dont do it justice really, it is odd.

Wow! I can't wait to see how this turns out. Could it be in a cold spot in your incubator, so thus developing slower?
Wow! I can't wait to see how this turns out. Could it be in a cold spot in your incubator, so thus developing slower?
It hatched and was random to the very end, it was not a apple yard and definitely was a few bricks short of a wall, live a good few months and then had a heart attack on the lawn. 🤷🏼‍♂️
