Marans are large, feather footed, single-combed dark brown egg layers. They don't come in a laced variety, but they do come in cuckoo which ... well, it has lines in the pattern.

Sounds like really you want a Brahma that lays dark or blue eggs, though, lol.

Barnevelders are also good but no fluffy feet and eggs are less brown than marans. Pretty lacing though!
