I got 3 eggs in 4 hours yesterday, from 2 hens. Is that normal?

  2. 3 eggs from 2 hens in 4 hours? I've not heard of that! I'm going to ask the question that MUST be asked: Are you sure you only have 2 hens? OK, now that THAT'S out of the way... [IMG]

Positive. The 3rd is a roo who does his job very, very well. Every egg I open is fertile. [IMG]

  4. Wow! I'm still fairly new at this, so hopefully Monarc or another of our quail gurus will chime in soo. [IMG]

Quote:Nope. I usually have one in the morning and one at night. Yesterday I got one at about 2 pm, and one at about 4 pm. When I started supper at 5:30-ish, I heard one of them singing the egg song. A couple minutes later, my dd went to give them some mealworms, and she brought me a 3rd egg.

I'm thinking maybe it's because they just started laying within the last couple weeks. Maybe they're irregular at first? Anyway, they were all normal, fertile eggs.

Now I was SURE I wouldn't get any eggs today since I got an extra yesterday. My dh got home at 5:30 and said we had an egg. I took it out of the hutch, and we went out to eat and run errands.

We got back at 7:30, and there were 2 more eggs! That's 6 eggs in a little over 24 hours! Are these some miracle quail or what?
