What a wonderful way to remember spending time with your mom! It's definitely a skill that needs to be passed on more than it has been.

I do think of her when I do it which makes it a true labor of love. I agree about passing it down; at 37 I'm the only person in my social circle who knows how! About two years ago I offered to help everyone through a batch of jam, just bring your own fruit and jars but nobody was interested

I believe it, same thing here. People would want to pay me to make jams or whatever after I'd given them as gifts and I offered to teach them how instead but no...their loss I suppose.

I make Blackberry, Black Raspberry, and Cherry jelly from my orchard. I love to preserve food. Nothing makes me more excited than to hear the pop pop pop of the can lids! No peaches for us this year, it was frozen until May! My apples look great and the pears too.
