A raccoon story - caught our first critter!

I have nothing against shooting them and have killed lots of varmits.
But the way you said that didnt sound very humane.

OP- hope you get your coon, good luck

I think you have a right to kill the coon but I'd rather you not, but drowing him I see as inhumane. Shooting is much more humane. The coon doesn't see the difference between your chickens and food, he just see's easy prey.

Well at the time the coons killed and ate 13 chickens in one night. One of the Roosters was a $125 for one!!! Wow that hurt!!! He was the best of show the year before.... The rest of them where between $25 and $75. So no at the time I wasn't trying to be nice!! But I will not or would not shoot something to make it suffer!!!

The best bate I have found is the soft dog food in the little bags. The coons can't resist it and if something you want to keep alive (like a cat or something like that) they just get a free meal..

We use the feed from our flock in leg traps. Works every time.

12 gauge double 00 to dispatch. No catch and realease policy of any predator. They are our flocks. They look to us for protection and well being.

Same thing here in Iowa Big C!!!!
I just use a live trap in case one of my wifes cats get in there or maybe something else.
