A real reason to rant!

if there was an ADULT present then she should have been smart, and polite enough to knock and ask.

I NEVER let anyone around my ducks without asking first, not ever since someone came and opened the pen gate, and let them all out.

I hate people like that, we have a 'BEWARE OF DOG" sign on our front porch, because our big 80+ pound pit mix Winni does NOT like strangers, she's not a mean dog by any means once you get to know her, but she doesn't like the UPS people, she doesn't lie the javovas(sp?) witness people LOL, and she doesn't like,(excuse my lack of respect here), black people at all, seriously, balck people are who she has the most problems with, she's never bitten anyone, but we're afraid she would, but people STILL try to come up on the porch.

people are dumb, and then animals protecting their young/territory, or who just do not like you, get blamed

Time to get a big dog. The respectfully thing to do would have been to go to your door, knock and asked if it was okay to go back to where the chickens were to watch them...

Tacky, I would like to respectfully disagree. Small dogs seem to be color blind, but every large dog I have ever owned disliked a person of opposite color from me. the hispanic population always was iffy with them. My Boxer mix is my wife's baby, and he is generally a nice dog, but there are triggers.... and he is trained to be a GD, soo.......... some people will set off his trigger.

Also, He is territorial. Nothing that isn't either a little kid or family will get within reach of his cable, because I honestly don't know what he'd do. I don't have neighbors to speak of, so a pup like him is a good first line of defense out here.

ETA: His training includes protecting all children. Even from me if I were to wrestle. Taking high risk foster kids, he has been a life saver more than once.

OK, I just hope for your sake you never have to be responsible for your dog attacking someone ... especially a child. I have owned many dogs in my 62 years and have never put up with one that showed the least little bit of aggressivenes toward humans. We will never tolerate a dog that is human aggressive..

I don't think he was being mean, where we used to live, there was a really nice dog next door. He liked people, but for some strange reason when he saw a black person, he would start growling and barking. It was the weirdest thing. I don't why he did it.

He's not human aggressive per se, his training is to intercept, get in the middle and make himself sound and look as big mean and ornery as possible. If someone tries to go past or through him.... well he knows the drill.

Tacky, I learned my obedience and GD training through the K9 units for the area's PD. I was the designated chew toy for many German Shepherds... and unfortunately they have the same tendencies as Beast

If I lived in the city, no I wouldn't have a dog that is human aggressive, and probably won't in the country, but like I said, He's my first line of defense.

I respectfully disagree. If my dogs are on my property and they bite a trespasser who should not be there to begin with (I'm not talking about a meter reader or the UPS guy), then it is their fault, for they are trespassing on private property. I seriously would put the blame on them.

The OP even has a sign up on her porch. That's a big hint there. See big dog, read big sign, do not enter. Seems simple to me
