A remark that deflates me like a popped balloon

I thought I was the only one with that problem!

My mom lives 2 states away, has only been here to visit once (pre-animals), and spends her whole life worrying about how many pets we have. I've found the easiest thing to do is lie. I'm 35 years old, and this is what I'm reduced to. The peace is worth it!

My kids are traitors, though. They visit Grandma, and they'll answer any and all questions for the price of cookies.

I get that about my animals to... as long as they are taking care of they need to leave me alone...(most of my animals are what people have dumped at the end of my road which naturally puts them in my yard since I am the only house on the endI have 3 children and I hated hearing Dont you know what causes that.... especially from my dad who had5 children...

I have 5 brothers and a sister... I'm the youngest of 7 kids. We grew up in the country and always had dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and horses, we only had chickens when I was very young (8).
All of my brothers have decided that having anything other than a dog or cat is NUTZ. When my sister moved to Tennessee a few years back, they gave her heck about having horses, goats and chickens. She is always being picked on, ridiculed and badgered about having them and so many of them.
Now flash forward to last fall when my husband and I bought our lil home on .75 acre and ordered chickens... Now I'm the one who is NUTZ. It got even worse when my brothers found out we have a goat. Every time I talk to them, I get "why do you want to have a goat & chickens??? I swore that I would never own a *#$% goat or chickens, they're so stupid and stinky"
And I answer right back
"YOU swore YOU wouldn't ever have them not ME. I didn't ask you to feed them or care for them or pay for them, what's it to you???"
The subject gets dropped for a while after that.

When I got pregnant with my 3rd child my grandmother told me "I didn't need to populate the planet!"

Now that we have our little farm with all our animals I think she feels the same way, but I

ahh i see! I read it wrong. No wonder I thought it was strange..LOL

LOL Not the Tennessee peoples...
My brothers live in Indiana and Oregon.
I think the major gripe of it goes back to my mother being a schizophrenic and having A LOT of animals and the boys being older they had to take care of them when they were young.
They also like to find things to "rib" others about, sometimes it goes too far. I guess it makes them feel superior or something?

I completely understand. My SIL just told my husband that he needs to "put a stop" to me getting more animals.

I told him that when she pays my food bills, cleans up after animals, pays my vets bills, then and only then can she say something. It irritates me to no end when someone says something like that to me.

We have 4 dogs, 1 cat, 24 parrots, 8 ducks, 1 goose, around 50 chickens. If people don't like what we have, they can stay away.

First off, who does she think she is?!? That was downright rude! Secondly, someone needs to remind her that your DH is your PARTNER, not your FATHER! People drive me INSANE!

It's like a couple months ago when I raised an orphan lamb for some friends (the ewe had 3 and only wanted to care for 2 of them). My nephew asked me one day, "What ever possessed you to do that?" I know he didn't come up with that on his own; it more than likely came from my brother or his wife! ARGH!
