A Roofing chicken

Every time I go to the chicken coop to collect eggs, there was this chicken sitting up on the nests, a hen who would not even lay eggs. Pretty much all the time, I have to pick her up by both of her wings, and she would run around wildly, and eat and drink, but mostly, she just sits up there all day. And every time I try, she starts to attack me! Why?

Maybe she’s broody?
When they go broody, they go out of lay.
When you say you’re picking her up by her wings, hopefully you don’t really mean you’re lifting her wings with her weight being held by them? Just checking..

Pretty much all the time when I go collect eggs, I have to lift her up from under her wings, and set her on the ground, and she would eat and drink and run around in a very frisky behavior. Otherwise, she just sits up there all day. So yeah, you could be right, she's very...broody.

Also, she pecks at me when I try to pick her up, while she's sitting up in the nests.

Give her some eggs to hatch if you don't mind having chicks
