A rump of a rooster all the sudden. Help!

He might be starting to mature and is testing his limits. If he is that young, you have a chance to correct the behavior by showing you are stronger than him.

Personally, I would likely cull after the second attack, but I have little patience for that kind of foolery, especially if he could do that to a kid. I know a girl who ended up with several stitches after a rooster attacked her face.
Yes, mine wasn't quite that old but he went from being "one of the birds" to biting me when I put down food and water - bleeding bruises on my legs, arms and hands, and coming at me every time I stepped out of the house.

As they get older and mature they push boundaries and see what they can get away with. And when they get into trouble, some learn, some just bide their time and wait for another chance...
