As we had a very nice weekend my DW and I went about cleaning up the yard and preparing everything for the upcoming Winter. I grow pole beans and was putting my bean poles I noticed an extremely large and well defined praying mantis egg case on one of them. I am a noted lover of the mantis and always keep an eye out for them when I mow or work around the yard. Come March or thereabout I'll pull the pole out of storage and put in the warm sunlight and wait for the little bug grabbers to hatch.

    Yay! [IMG]

I love watching Mantises do their thing. Some of them are amazing at camouflage!

Just don't put it in your bedroom in December. My little sister NEVER forgave me that one. Hey, I was what, six years old? Mom thought it was dead. Until the morning for school, when the lights go on and my sister starts screaming to raise the dead. Every surface in our room was covered in mini sized mantises. No one shared my amusement. But I did get to take a jar of them to school. sorry, sis

Aw, that's awesome! I had a huge mantis living in my tomatoes this year but no egg sack. The kids thought I was goofy for checking every piece of plant before I removed it. lol

SB - I had a similar incident with a spider egg case when I was a kid. Like you, I was the only one that was happy with the situation.
