Hiya Teila, I think you should look into adding a few pretty wyandotte to your flock. Mine lay right through the winter and are very kind on the eye.
They also come in bantam.

OK, so this is where the ‘Support’ bit kicks in![]()
Let’s all think positively:
The nest boxes are not getting dirty .. besides cobwebs that is!
The money we are saving on nest box lining can go towards the eggs we are having to buy.
No hens with internal laying or egg bound issues.
We are saving money on oyster shell and/or shell grit.
Less baking = smaller waistline.
No issues with cracked or soft shelled eggs.
No issues with chickens eating eggs.
Our supply of egg cartons is increasing.
Anyone feeling better? I know I am! (NOT!) lol
Tee hee Fancy
Thank you, just what I needed a song-worm to take my mind off living in an egg-free zone![]()
I shall go out whistling that one each time I check the nest boxes and who knows, in a couple of weeks, the chickens may be clucking along in tune.
I have this mental picture of chickens on the roost swaying back and forth, singing and whistling![]()
