A very bad day

Sooo sorry! Coyotes are very sneaky and quiet! I've gone out in the night to check on horses and found them running out of the barn when I flipped on the lights. We have a large yard, and the back pasture is a ways off- (so lots of open space for them to boldly cross) and one night I went out on the back patio and found a coyote under my deck snooping around! Nothing under there, I don't know what he was looking for, but he really scared the heck out of me! I've come to realize a lot goes on while we are sleeping and all 'seems' quiet. I'm very sorry about your babies.

Never did catch the culprit. I did manage to catch several cats and a weasel in the process tho. Had a few more come up missing but nothing like that day. Neighbor shot a coon with some babies a few days after so wondering if she was the one causing the problem.

I know there is little hope that some are hiding, but I certainly hope you find they are. My short experience with coons and weasels have been bodies everywhere, within 20 feet (some a bit further) of the pen. Usually there is only one that is just feathers, and it is always separate from the others, well over 50 feet away and carried over a fence, but my Fish and Game dept said that could very well be another animal coming and dragging the dead birds away and eating it, AFTER the coons/weasels attacked.

Whatever it is, I wish you better luck, and that you feel better too, soon.
