A very Screwed up hatch! How long do I wait?

two weeks ago I came home to find my DH with a dozen silky eggs.Where did you get those I asked knowing the answer. From my silky hen that had been broody on 4 eggs the previous weekend.The others had continued laying through out the week and DH decided to take the eggs and put them in the incubator. I figured he had killed all the babies that where already developing, because he had let them set on the desk for 4+ hours. We put them in with our duck eggs noted the day on the calender and I forgot all about it. Yesterday was the day I was suppose to take the duck eggs out of the turner. But we noticed that there where some silky eggs pipped. I couldn't figure out why! They where a week early, it was right there on the calender when we put them in ! GRRRRRRRR
Well Plus side is we have two ?blue? silky chicks! and two more I took out today with the rest of the silky eggs some still needed turned a couple more days but I don't know which ones. Hopefully the chicks knocking them all over will count?

Oh and by the way. No hatches from the duck eggs yet. Which sucks cause when we candled them they looked good. These are four runner duck eggs the dad is a call duck and our runner duck was killed a week after we set these eggs so this is our only chance to see what the babies would look like!

And a question? what do you get if you breed black and white silkies together?

Both black and white are masking or blocking colors.

"Under" or behind those colors are the birds' normal colors. Often partridge, sometimes others.

Depending on which white - yes there is more than one. And which Black, and what hides behind them is your answer.

Answer: unless you know what colors are behind them - white to black can yield all kinds of things.

I just had that conversation today with a very experienced Silkie breader and when you breed and white Silkie with a Black Silkie you will either get a white, black or partridge. I was wondering that too!

Well the reason I asked is because all the black silkies I have where suppose to be blue. Meaning I bought blue silkies and they all ended up black. two from Mcmurray hatchery and one from a lady on BYC. They are all beautiful silkies but I want blue!!!
Our first silky we hatched this year seems to be a splash I just figured that is what you get when you cross black and white, now I have no idea.
Still no ducks. Two died in shells and four still in incubator. Maybe I just suck at incubating ducks?
How long do I wait? today is day 29
