"Cobra!" Mongoose hissed. The cold night shadows sunk into her pelt. She watched Cobras yellow eyes flicker in the shadows. The dark outline of his ears appeared in the moonlight. "Stop following me I'm just-" "Don't lie to me!" The she cat snapped, her dark markings matching the ghostly ones on her litter mate. She furvently glanced around the hollow, her sleeping clanmates dappled pelts rising and falling softly in the shadows. Everything was still for a moment. "This is my destiny mongoose!" Cobra insisted. He padded across the shadowed clearing, putting his forehead against hers. "I'm going to be leader, and your going to be deputy, remember?" He whispered. "We're going to make the tribe great again, together!" He purred. Mongooses stomach twisted. She could see it, she would let him leave, she would keep quiet. She would have her dreams realized. But.. the blood. She knew it already stained his paws, and it would dye hers too, the moment he returned. "No!" She snapped, pulling away. "I don't care about your precious dreams! No promises of virtue can justify breaking the code!" She hissed, the words catching in her throat. "Don't play games Cobra. I know what happened to Dire!" She said. Cobra stared for a long moment. Brief fear flashed in his eyes, but the spark soon turned to anger. He turned away quickly. "It wasn't for me.. it was unavoidable." He said. "No! You selfish snake heart!" She growled. "Don't you get it!? This is all for you! Not a whisker of what your doing is for the greater good!" "Liar! Your a liar! He yelled shattering the quiet. His paw suddenly struck out of no where. The side of her face flared to life, white spots splattered across her vision. The blow continued past her head, catching her ears in his claws. Mongoose yowled, her hind legs springing under her as she knocked him back, her teeth sunk into his shoulder. No! She thought, through the ringing in her ears she heard the calls of alarm. She could see cobras hatred burning in his eyes. I failed.

(I changed the Obiajulu guys name to Dire, to fit with River, and so his name wasn't so annoyingly hard to remember.)

(Fine by me. :confused: )
 
(Then everyone headed south, towards the jungle, to SnappingRiver Tribe where many of the cats were born, because the Thunderers are going that direction. )
