the moon rose over the desert, reflected in the still waters shadowy surface. Dart's pelt bristled as he listened in the silence. she wouldn't leave me here, would she? in the still water? but no, he could see the dark tips of the grizzled cat's ears outlined in silver as she neared.
"you found food!" he purred.
"It's not for us. hurry up." she mumbled around the lizzard clamped between her jaws. They left the canyon, crossing the dunes. at least its cool now. he thought, shaking out his coat. he caught up to mongoose, who was settled on a dune.
"look" she whispered, her eyes flashing in the darkness. "the thunderer tribe."( we'll wait for dawn.)
