Mongoose watched the young cats, smiling for a brief moment. Then she snorted to herself. It's well that Oleanders kits were brought here..it's almost fate it seems. She shifted her gaze to Lion and Nile, huddled close together. They'll grow up here.. like the other young ones..they won't carry shame in their life here. she let the stab of sadness prick her. She had never realized the bonds of friendship could flow deeper than the purest and strongest veins. I'll protect them Oleander.. they will see you again. She promised to herself. Cobra couldn't kill her. She would still be there, she would gaze upon her kits again. Mongoose willed it, she willed it feircely. She felt her paw steps trailing towards them. "..your mother would be proud, the desert failed to take you, that takes courage." She said, remembering her own endless flight from the jungle, out into the scorching sea, endless sand beckoning her to lay down and die. But she didn't. She lived. And she was here. She couldn't imagine two young cats fleeing on their own. Not just them.she thought, River and Night had braved the desert too. (Note: I guess she hasn't seen Oleander yet then. Lol! Just pretend this happened earlier.)
