A word about skunks

Wow! Lots of activity here I wasn't expecting that I just thought I was passing on some hard learned lesson.

We know it was skunks as in more than one caught one in the coop with our camera trying to get more. Luckily we were waiting for him and the next night caught another squeezing under the gate with the camera set up by the gate looking into the run. Didn't get that one yet he's burrowed all the way under the coop now trying to get to the chickens.

Everyone else- thanks for posting with your experiences I have to say I'm sorry so many of you have lost chicks to skunks. I just had no idea that they were capable of it. Should have known they were related to weasels. We've had a weasel before and had raccoons in the run before and opposums in the hen house but never would have guessed a skunk!

Great lessons learned here on BYC. We sure do have skunks but, it never occurred to me what they eat. Just knew to keep away or get "skunked."
