I have two hova bators. No automatic turners. With one I crack the lid to turn eggs and the temp drops 2 degrees. The other when I crack the lid to turn drops 15 degrees! Way too much for 3 times a day. Any ideas why this might be happening? Am I okay to still try to hatch in it? Please help, I have eggs that need to go somewhere soon........

There might be a small draft where the lower temp incubator is sitting and the draft is blowing out the warm out. Maybe swap places with the two incubators and see if the problems moves to the other one?

As long as your temp goes back up fast then don't worry. The internal temp of the eggs wont drop enough to worry about, unless the temp in the incubator takes long to warm bak up.

what is the temp in the room? How many eggs are in the bator? if there is only a few then the temp will change a lot for a short time because of the escape of so much warm air, more eggs would hold the temp longer because of more space being taken up with warm solid objects. You could put them in cartons and rock the cartons. If you have a lot of eggs that would cut down the time the incubator needs to be open I would think. I tend to agree with the others however as long as it goes back stable rather quickly I wouldnt worry about it.
