Woke up to -25F, -38F windchill. Car wouldn't start. Plugged the car in to the charger, 20 minutes later, there was a pop outside and a transformer blew and the power went out. I ran around filling bottles of hot water for the birds, covering cages in quilts, and retreated to my waterbed to hide MYSELF under some quilts.

Hours later, the power is finally back on. My house is slowly heating up. My kitchen and basement water pipes froze. I have heaters going downstairs right now and the oven going to try to warm things up and get the water flowing again.

Forgot about the bread in the oven, burned lunch.

All the birds are fine, even the newborns. I, however, am a little stressed. To add insult to injury, I want cocoa and I'm out of milk.

Winter can be over now. Like, right now.

Thanks, guys. I got the basement pipes thawed, but the kitchen faucet is still frozen and I can't figure out why or where.

The bright spot.. the Coturnix egg that had been in the hatcher actually hatched just a few minutes ago, so I have my first Italian chick [IMG]

Who's going to keep me awake all night peeping his darn head off because he's the only one in the brooder. [IMG]

Back to holding a hairdryer along some copper pipe..
