What are the advantages of joining the American Bantam Association? (Does anyone sing that in their head like Garth's American Honky Tonk Bar, Association, LOL )

I don't plan on showing birds, but wouldn't be opposed, except to the docking combs part. I would be interested in breading some bantams that aren't just muts, even if I love my current muts.

Thoughts?

If you join and show you earn points and can work to become a master shower. You can also then be a part of getting a new breed or variety recognized if you wanted to. You'd have to be a member for 5 years for that, and own a certain number of birds of the new breed/variety.

As a member of the ABA you'll receive quarterly newsletters and an annual yearbook which is very nice and lists many breeders of various breeds and varieties of poultry. If you supply an e-mail address you'll receive updates electronically and most of all your membership gives a greater voice to the poultry hobby through the parent organization (ABA).
