First of all, this is probly gonna come off like I'm mad, well, that aint so!

I'm just doin the same thing I've done with 'em since I was old enuff to walk. Thats how my cuzins done it, that's how they taught me and we aint never had a problem yet! I aint tryin to be a jerk or nothin, its just funny to see everybodie's different ways on how to raise 'em that they think's wrote in stone (guess I'm one of them folks to

.) I've always gave bucks scratch and the does pellets, and I aint never had a problem with that yet. I've always raised New Zealands, I know they aint cuddly rabbits, but I've also never had one act this way, it's different than just bein scared cuz they aint used to bein handled... I've had 'em not used to handled, but I've never had one that bad before, and I've been raisin 'em my entire life. She acts kinda like a Champene D'Argent (that was a experiment, they looked neat and I was told they was fun to raise and such... Lord, they were hands down the meanest things I've ever dealt with LOL! No wonder they gave me such a good deal on 'em... Well at least the little demons tasted good) , ya know the kind, take your hand off cuz its there and she feels like it, and I aint never seen a NZ act quite like that... Course then again I try and spend a lot of time with 'em just so I dont lose any digits when I have to reach in there for somethin LOL, its a lot easier when they trust ya! So I'm just sayin my experiences on the matter, not tryin to mess with yall.

I really appreciate your input. I have never dealt with rabbits and talking to people who have dealt with them for many years means the world to me! This website is invaluable. It is like getting a degree. I study it as often as I can and learn so much. I thank all you knowledgable people for that. I did give him some warm water this morning before I left and boy did he drink it up. I will do the same tomorrow. Thanks again.

Here is a picture of this little cutie. You can see I added the hay in there. I have heard of adding pillow stuffing in the hutch for outdoor rabbits to burrow in. Is this OK to do?

Lovely!! I wouldn't add any synthetic material as bunnies love to chew anything and everything. What I would do for warmth is add a lot more hay into the nest area so that he can burrow into it and it would surround him. Has the owner been back?

ETA: Also putting his water in a heavier container (non spill) and placing it in a corner of his nest may keep it from freezing as quickly.

You probably saved his life by giving him water and food.
He is really cute! I think that's a New Zealand breed rabbit.

Aww

you took the pics away. Anyway, when I saw them yesterday, he looked fairly healthy. So it's good that you have that to start with.
