Hello. I found 20 abandoned quail eggs on our golf cart a couple days ago. The eggs looked a bit “tossed” around and momma was no where in sight. I put a camera on them and watched for 36 hours to see if momma came back, and when she didn’t, I quickly ordered an incubator and other supplies. I gathered the eggs, 2 were cracked and based on those 2, they do appear quite developed and I think the others could be viable. They are dark when I tried to candle them. My question is, if they are partially developed, should I still follow the Day 1 incubation process? I read I should go in lockdown on Day 21 but should I move that up a bit since they were partially developed when the incubation process started? New to this, although last year I had a nest on my patio that produced 9 babies! Caught it all on camera, it was the cutest thing. I have another nest this year, only 3 eggs left after a snake attack 😢 (I have since made modifications while momma quail was away to try to protect from another snake; the original attacker was captured and relocated). Thanks in advance for any advice!
