We have these two handsome fellas in quarantine after picking them up where they were dumped at a lakeside park :(

Our best - uneducated as we are - breed guesses are Black Australorp and Cream Legbar. What say ye all of way more chicken knowledge?

"A.M." - Cream Legbar?

"P.M." - Black Australorp?

Thanks yall!

Mixed breeds

Any guesses as to what breeds are in the mix? :p

Second one looks like a Black Australorp, but does he hold his tail and body the same way as in the picture when he’s on the ground?

Oh, I see what you mean... the high tail/low wing set? No, he doesn't. I'll get another photo of him on the ground. Those photos were taken the day after we got them, so they were still a little freaked out... the crate was the safe zone. They have since settled down!

Thanks for helping them!
But WHO would think it’s alright to dump chickens in a park!?!?

Thank you for appreciating our efforts :)

People let their dogs run loose at this park (it is fenced), too... Those poor birds were hiding in some grape vines. A woman who goes there every day with her dogs made the plea for someone to pick them up before anything bad happened to them. People can be so cruel... I don't understand it.

Honestly, not a clue.

Haha no worries! Thanks for your input!

Great job rescuing them!

The first roo is a delaware mix. Possibly a type of red sex link (delaware hen x Rhode island red roo). Second one is likely an australorp.

Thank you :)

Would you mind sharing which traits you used to make that identification? That is fascinating! I have three young RIR pullets, so perhaps he can be their roo!

I'm not sure what their breeds are exactly, but I just had to say.... A.M. and P.M. for these two fellas, I love love love it!!! :D

Haha thank you! The morning after we caught them while we were feeding/watering, I said to my husband that I'd post them up to find a new home for them. He asks, "Post who up? You're not talking about A.M. and P.M., are you?" :lau So needless to say, they aren't going anywhere!
