Hi folks,

I have an abandoned neighborhood rooster that wandered into my yard and seems to have decided that this is home now. Any ideas on what kind of roo he is? He seems very polite with the girls and very vigilant already. Also very calm around me and seems like he would eat from my hand if my own girls weren't such treat hogs.

Thoughts?

I am thinking an american game too. Anybody had experience with them? Like I said, he is pretty chill so far, but he is also pretty small. About the same size as my bigger Ameraucana hen. Maybe still young?

I believe that he is an American Game Fowl cockerel. In my experience they are the least human aggressive of all roosters. It is a trait that has been strongly selected against. They are generally excellent flock roosters and many will not hesitate to take on a hawk or other raptor.
