Abandoned roosters and my hens

someone dumped 3 roosters in my yard. I have 4 hens and these boys are chasings and raping my girls violently. will they seriously hurt them? i am waiting on animal control to come get them but it may take time.

HELP. will the roosters hurt my hens?

To keep the answer short, maybe or maybe not. There is no way any of us could answer that question even if we were there watching. If you can I'd either lock the hens where those three cannot get to them or lock those three males up until animal control comes to get them. Just don't take a chance.

I would not count on animal control to be in any kind of hurry to come help. I would catch or kill the offending birds then begin the process of finding out who dumped them on you. If they get away with it once they will likely do it again. Animal control may be good people and help in the process of identifying who the a-holes are, and maybe charges (or just revenge )can be brought against them. Good luck

Lock up your hens and post a "free roosters for food" ad on craigslist. Somebody is hungry out there, and hungry people are fast. Easy way to solve your problem and give your girls their peace back.

If they are raping violently, you will soon see your hens with missing feathers and looking ragged.
I would catch these roosters as soon as possible,( easier to catch them at night) and keep them confined until you can find someone interested in them. You could put up adds at your local feed and farm stores, and advertise on craigslist.

My husband has been known to use nasty rapist roosters as target practice!
Maybe that would work for you?

Honestly though, i kind of feel bad for them as this situation is not of there doing.

Put the roosters in a pen together. They won't fight without the hens there.

We are rural on a dead end road and people have dropped off all sorts of critters including a young gosling. I don't believe in relocation by dropping off critters for others to deal with but there are people who do it. Here it is legal if you get the property owners permission, but no one ever asked for mine and there is no way to find out, that I know of, who did it.
