I hope this is in the right place.
I'm trying to get together a list of the abbreviations used here for chicken breeds or varieties and patterns. I've pulled and sorted these from this thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=1638#p1638 and from Chicken Junkie's page. http://chickenjunkie.com/poultry-faq/poultry-acronyms/
If you know more, add them on. Corrections are welcome. Abbreviations for breeds / varieties and patterns only please. Thanks

Thanks for listing this. I wish there could be an easy place to access this in the learning center. Or is there a "sticky" for the breed section of the forum that could list all of this?

For what it's worth these "abreviations", while popular here, are not used anywhere else in the poultry world.

I dislike abbreviations. Sometimes I have to think about what the person is writing about, and sometimes I do not know what the abbreviation stands for. I suppose that is what prompted this list of abbreviations.

I try to avoid abbreviations. I just think it is lazy to use them.

I'm not a fan of abbreviations either, but they seem to be an increasingly popular and dominant feature in the world we inhabit today. I don't suppose you "tweet" or text much?

Me neither.
Here's a resource that you can use to beat them at their own game — and be as annoying as you wish — http://searchcrm.techtarget.com/definition/Twitter-chat-and-text-messaging-abbreviations

I have sent messages through Twitter. I have not found much need to abbreviate things.

And we wonder why kids can't write these days.

If someone texts me and can't spell out what they are saying, I delete the text.

Something else that I dislike is posters who don't use any capital letters or punctuation. Don't even get me started on all capital boldfaced letters in posts.

OKAY, I WON'T GET YOU STARTED. :)
