I have a very lovely black hen who is about 9 months old. I hatched her in an incubator along with others. She was an active and normal chick. I integrated her and her fellow hatchlings into my existing flock with no problems. I noticed though that she didn't scratch like the others, she will not roost with the others at night. Would rather be on the floor. She will perch on the side of their water bowl all day if I or one of the other hens doesn't scoot her off. She has also spent hours just standing in the middle of the water bowl. I have to go out at nightfall and literally put her in the coop. She hasn't laid a single egg yet that I know of. Have never found her in a nest. Further, while she and her fellow hatchlings were in one brooder I had another brooder set up with Royal Palm turkeys. The turkeys weren't eating or drinking and I read somewhere that adding a chick to their brooder would help in teaching them to eat and drink. The hen I'm concerned about was their teacher. Could her time spent in the turkey brooder have caused her current behavior?

x2. have you handled her, and compared her body condition to your others? I hope she's just a very late 'bloomer', but this doesn't sound good to me either.
My SQ bred Ameraucana pullets didn't come into lay until they were eleven (!!) months of age, but acted and felt fine. See how she really is...
