I have six chickens. Two 1 year old ISA browns and four 8 month old pullets (1 is a speckled Sussex and the other three are LF Cochins). About three days ago I noticed a few redddish poops when I cleaned my trays. I found more red poop more today. The red looks like little strand of tissue? I am attaching pictures. Based on where in the tray the poop was found it is most likely from one of my Cochin pullets but I cannot be sure. They switch places some nights.
I have not been home as much as usual lately but everytime I am with the girls (including today when I let them free range while I cleaned their coop) they seem perfectly normal: very good apatite, drinking plenty of water, scratching for food, just normal chicken stuff. But this poop definitely seems wrong. Any ideas what the problem is? I am going to TSC in the next day or two and can buy whatever medication might be necessary, I just don't know what they need.
