The farm where I work has 5 guineas, 3 pearl and 2 white. One of the whites is always trying to "grovel" under the others (or maybe it's just one other - didn't notice). But, many times, I hear this whining noise and it's the one white trying to "slide" under another one. Does anyone know what this is about?

I'm trying to figure out that behavior with my guineas too. I think it has something to do with showing submission. Like one male says "I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy" in order to keep from being attacked by the other males. The males can be so vicious otherwise.

Anyone else?

hmmm Now that's a thought!! I wonder... I haven't heard any "buckwheat" noises so, possibly, they're all males. Interesting.

Interesting - I've only seen mine fighting. they're youngsters still, and they grab each others neck and make a HUGE fuss.

They are funny, after treat time when everyone had a little something - they make a HUGE fuss - every night, first few times we thought there was a LION or something in the back yard.

For odd behaviors, I have a pack of 10 guineas whose leader, if I'm not mistaking things, is a dark brahma roo who either thinks he's a guinea or prefers guineas hands-down to all the chickens in the yard. It's the only group he hangs with, and I think he thinks they're his women/flock. They were brooder-mates, but so were any number of other chicks who grew up acting like chickens, not guineas.

LOLOL!!

You are right, Kinnip! They ARE from another planet! But, somehow, they have captured my heart. Thanks for your views, guys!
