only the shadow knows.....
Need your thoughts on this. I'm looking of breaking up my younin's into their breading trios. Doing this now because one of my Bob babies has laid an egg!!!! Wasn't expecting this until next spring.

Thing is, I'm thinking of building "quail tractors" for all the trios. They would have access to grass and all it's goodies daily. Do you think if I made a raised area with bedding, like an A-frame, they would use the upper part? Don't know if I need a ladder to get up there. (I'm rambling!!) Thinking like one of those 2 story rabbit hutches. They have the upper part to nest, eat, etc and the bottom to scratch, flutter around, and other things.

Whatcha think?

I rather like that idea. Only thing is if you plan on eating the quail it is my understanding that there is parasite issues with allowing them on the ground
As I do not cull maybe someone with better info will chime in

I don't know about them being on the ground... I've always had mine on wire or pens with shavings. I have cottonwood branches in my 4x4' pen, and they LOVE to perch up high. So I'm thinking the A-frame, with something for them to sit on, would be perfect.
