I really don't like moving mine that much. They free range within their fenced spaces most days and only get actually locked in the run on occasion. I like the electric netting idea. And also, no matter what you THINK a predators' MO is, I see stuff all the time that isn't considered the norm.
Add people to the mix... People might not know that great horned owl and fox are perfectly happy to hunt mid day. Actually I see rat activity mid day sometimes too. See, we are a resource they didn't have before... But night time activity does seem to be more often than that. Or even late evening/early dawn seems popular. My dogs, myself, and my fences/shrubs are my only deterrents. I use electric fencing, but that's only to keep my stags in their pen. But it's so easy to install and use, if I needed to I would consider adding a solar charger and line directly on the outside of the run/coop/tractor. Screw it right in. Must be predator nose height as it SOLELY a mental deterrent and it needs to get them on the sensitive fleshy portion. And since it will be attached, no thought as to how to move it. I would think any digging predators would approach at inspection level before starting to dig.
