whooooooooooooooo!!! It happened! Yes indeed, the first Ameracauna egg!

A perfect, little bitty green one, right behind the feeder. I had been in the coop in the morning, no egg. I just went out to clean out the coop, and there it was! I squealed, and when I yelled for my little brother he didn't believe me. He thought I was going to slap him for being impossible, so he wouldn't come near me until I held it up.

Now I just have to figure out who layed it...I may well be feeling pelvic bones later on.

That first egg is always exciting!

I remember mine. My turken was a week shy of 5 months when I found it. I was so excited to show my wonderful helpful supportive neighbors that I tripped rushing over there and almost dropped it right in front of them. hehe.

how old is your Americauna that layed it's first egg today? Just wondering...i have 5 that should be laying soon.

Update: Found another one! Same green color, but even smaller than the one in the pics.

And it was right in the nesting boxes, too!

Now, could someone please fill us in as to fertility and eating the eggs? There are two roos in with the girlies. If they go in the fridge, they are perfectly fine to eat, correct? I just wanted to make sure.
