AC chick

Thanks every one for all your input only thing is there are no more chicks but her.... I got rid of a bunch then her hatch mate died. So I had to put in a heating pad in her brooder she loves and if I talk to her for a moment she does good. She seems to like her new living conditions with the heating pad and not having to scrap for food.

You can either make a feather duster or buy one for the chick to cuddle up with. (Keep away from any light source) And provide her with a mirror so she will be fooled into thinking there is another chick. When I was 12, I raised a lone chick that I kept until I was 22. While Cluck-o-Luck never saw another chicken until she was an old lady, she did have plenty of company because of my other critters. She was a RR and when she died she was still a house chicken. She was the most memorable pet I ever had; her and my pet rat. So while raising a lone chick can be a challenge, doing so can be done. You just have to remember she is a chicken and provide her with enrichment that will allow her to be a chicken: a sandbox to scratch and dust bathe in, a good diet. Her own, safe cage to live in when you are not there is very important that and a lot of cleaning supplies as house chickens can be messy!

She is an odd bird to say the least. And she does have company. Just not other chicks. She didn't seem to care for other chicks when she had them in her box with her. Like just now I was laying on my couch and I was startled by her she managed to get out of her box and fly over to me on the couch. She sat on my shoulder and everytime I tried to move her she squaled and went right back. I had to finally put her on her heating pad because she was shivering.... I had her with other younger chicks and she wasn't mean to them but she wanted nothing to do with them.... I am Ok with her being attached to me she isn't over bearing but hates when she can not see me when I leave the room if she is perched outside her box. She seems to do better torturing the cat...(who does not mess with her.) And being able to strut and perch... I can not get her any friends right now because of the weather, but she does better than any other lone hatch I have ever had...
