Light bulbs do not know the difference between AC & DC current.

it's true a standard filiment bulbe doesn't know the difference between ac and dc bulbs. however you'll need to do the math on the cost of building the set up and runnign it versus buying a differnet set up.

Christmas lights are the best example of thism cut any one light out and use a double A battery to light it.

meaning simply trying to run a light bulb off a 9v battery may produce light.. is it worth it.

not to mention low voltage dc bulbs are readily available at any autoparts store and very low prices.
