Ac for chicken house

We have window ac in our brooder house and it makes life very nice. We use box fans in the coop along with a solar attic fan to keep air moving. The main coop sits under trees too which helps keep it cooler.

I would have to do extensive alterations in order to AC, because much of my coop is open air, and I have a fan. They go into it in the heat of the day because it's cooler. But I've thought about it. Wish I could get them to cuddle up to the frozen bottles of water I bring, or walk in the pans of water. All they'll do is drink the ice water.

The small size of window air-conditioners are quite cheap, right around $100, and they don't use much power. If you set it at 80 or maybe 85 degrees it would maybe only run in the afternoon.

If you live somewhere with dry climate, those patio misters might be enough. Also, in the desert, you can get cooling by blowing a fan over a wet cloth.
