Accidental incubation we need a home for the chicks!!!

Look the only reason I remove them from the incubator is because the mother left the nest and there was no point in keeping them there if they were just going to rod and so I decided to bring them to the incubator and find them some good homes anyway.

I did read the whole story and still have the question...why try extra hard to hatch chicks you can't care for? By removing them from under your broody because they don't hatch as well there, you ARE trying to hatch chicks you can't care for. Every chicken keeper who has a rooster eats potential chicks for breakfast (aka fertilized eggs) and everyone who has a broody but doesn't want to raise a bunch of chicks at that time, removes and tosses the eggs from under the broody. There's nothing wrong with not producing chickens you can't care for...it's the responsible thing to do.
I believe the chicks were pretty far along. Don’t know how they could have missed it. Anyway I do agree with you. It’s a dumb plan.

I feel like no one is is here to help and everyone is just here to put me down.... Look no matter how you put it we weren't kindling the eggs because we didn't think they were fertile so we let our broody sit on them because we were not aware at the time that our rooster was creating fertilized eggs with our hens. So yeah it's pretty stupid that we missed it but now there's no points in killing them by letting them die so I'm just trying to find somebody who actually wants chicks and is not just here to beat me up so if you're here to do that just leave. Sorry to be rude but I'm speaking my mind

Personally, I consider an egg that is 2 days into incubation as something I don’t want to kill if I can help it.

Sadly, it’s been hard to get rid of chicks this summer, since it’s right after everyone got their chickens during covid, and now there’s a huge influx of broodies...aka chicks.

I’ve seen people trying to give straight run chicks away for free and... no takers.

It may be different where you are though!

Yeah mabey.... But I really just need whatever chicks that hatch to go to a good home with somebody who knows what they're doing. Obviously I have had chicks before and I have plenty of experience just at the moment I don't have the resources for this batch. To be honest it really was my fault I should have kindled these eggs and I should have been more suspicious but are broody always sits on unfertile eggs and I just thought that it was just another badge of unfertile eggs like last time but it wasn't. I'm sorry to any chicken owners who feel differently and feel like I am not a good chicken owner but I do accept this is my fault 100% And all I want is for the chicks that do hatch to have a nice home ready and waiting for them. The worst thing I would have to do would be to keep these guys and not have the resources and not feel loved.

I would try craigslist and facebook. Not the actual facebook market place, but you can search for and join local/state facebook farm groups. I managed to offload my first brood via a local facebook group.

It will help if your chicks are pure bred and friendly.

I’m sorry, I hope you find a good home for them. I’m all the way in Oregon.. 😕
