Went to TSC to get chick starter for my 4-6 wk olds, and all they had was dumor. I bought a bag and brought it home an realized it is 24%, not 20%. Will it hurt my baby chicks?? (chickens)

I do not see why it would, depending on the breed of chicks you have they may do better on it. Gamefowl starter is usually around 24%. How much do you have, or how long will it last?

Use the feed, EE's are a active breed and should thrive on it. I had some EE packing peanuts at one time and fed them my gamefowl starter with no harm, they did well up until they became big enough for dinner.

Although I think if you look at the website and their listing, (I looked at it last night) but cannot remember where it is, it says the 20% is for chickens and the 24% is for Turkeys and Quail and the like. I think the other post is spot on that gamebird starter is also 24%.

I happen to use the 24% because I think the extra 4% protein is good for them. My Creame Brabanter's and Houdan's did GREAT on it. I would not hesitate to use it. I am sure others will chime in.

Excess protein is not a big issue. It may waste a little money, but I think the corn/starch content of most feeds is way to high anyway. Go ahead and use it without fear.
