Accidently KILLED two of my meaties this morning :(

Sorry to hear. I have done the feeder accident a few times myself. Now i give it a little swing before it touches the ground. It helps to move the girls away and I can feel if anyone is hiding underneath. Hope this may help prevent anyone's further accidents.

I always swing the feeder to scatter the chickens...one just stayed under there

I take full responsibility but I do think the feeder design is bad...

Oh, I'm sorry...that's both horrible and slightly funny at the same time

I'm weird.

Time to arm yourself with a broom to move them out of the way!

it's funny looking back however yesterday our beagle killed 37 of the meaties so now I'm down to 7 (3 will probably not make it) --not a good day.

Oh my gosh! I am SOOO sorry!! 37 - my goodness! That is a lot of chickens for 1 dog to kill! Boy, yesterday was just not a good day for you (or your meaties)

Lost a couple more, they were just too far gone to save. I have 5 left

We processed 37 , they were pretty good sized but had to skin them all, chicken for Sunday dinner tomorrow. I still can't believe this happened, they were all doing so great! --I have 50 new chickies being shipped to me next Wednesday from Hoover's Hatchery. I tried calling Schlecht again but couldn't get anyone to answer the phone. So, I'll try this again, the dog is going to my nephews however DH raises beagles for rabbit hunting/trialing and has about 25 out in the kennels. I'll make sure the coop door is built more sturdy... and will certainly do my best to keep everything LOCKED up! my new process date is Dec 2nd. Yuck, cold weather chicken farmer! thanks for the hugs. How are yours doing? almost ready to process??
