Necrosis? Wound/hole in the side of a hen! Stress molt?? Help!

She’s a buff Orpington yard mix, she’s been a lot more skiddish snd stoped eating. Along with stress molt.
It started just the other day, maybe 3 days
The rooster I have sucks and over mates his hens, we’re getting rid of him, but there’s only been one other instance of a hole in a hen, months ago now.
The gash is large, like half an inch into the skin, and black, it opens up into her body, which concerns me
It probably was a bully hen or the rooster
She’s been drinking water, not really eating
I’ve yet to see her poops, I just moved her to a quarantine
A stop- the bleed spray to keep it clean along with peroxide
we use pine bedding, and I just need to know if I have to put her down or not

Pictures would be really helpful. Sounds like probably a spur injury from the rooster. Standard wound care is to flush the wound out well, use sterile saline or a diluted chlorhexidine solution (Hibiclens). An oral syringe or squirt condiment bottle is good for that. Try to see if the black is dirt, dried blood, scab, or necrotic (dead) tissue and clean it up. If it's necrotic you will need to debride and remove that. See if there is any bad smell coming from the wound. I would not use peroxide again, it can inhibit healing. Then apply some plain triple antibiotic ointment to the wound to cover it with that completely. Don't try to bandage it. If any feathers are getting in it, trim them back with some scissors. If there is any bad smell, excessive redness, or discharge then she may need an oral antibiotic as well. Amoxicillin is good, you can get it as a fish medication online without prescription (fish mox or aqua mox). Dosing is 57 mg per pound of body weight twice a day for 5-7 days.

Thank you! I’ll take pictures tomorrow morning when I feed her! She’s quarantined with a dwarf hen (this other hen is 6 months old and the size of a baby!)
