I found an article on the beginners guide to incubating and hatching ducks/chick's, it said the AcuRite hygrometer was the best one to buy. I was wondering if it would harm my eggs or ducklings once hatched if I were to use this hygrometer, because it's an indoor hygrometer?

Since I am not familiar with the model. I looked it up online. Yes, you are correct. There is no probe. I don’t know how that one would work with an incubator. I would recommend getting one actually made to work with an incubator. Incubator Warehouse would be a good starting point.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I don't know why BYC would recommend a Hygrometer like that one. I actually purchased that one at Walmart and found it on a post about incubating, and it was the one I purchased! So I was just wondering if I could use it. But I just purchased an outdoor hygrometer, a few days ago.

I use those. They work just fine for the humidity. It does take up a space for an egg though compared to having one with a probe. I don't use them for reading the temperature since they are slow to read and don't show decimal degrees.

They can be off somewhat and so can other types or brands. Just make sure you calibrate it with the salt test and you should be good to go.

How do you do the salt test?

You do not need a thermometer or a humidity gauge That is specifically made for an incubator.

I'm not exactly sure which model you are talking about... Can you please post a direct link to it or take a picture of it?

I use this:
AcuRite 00325 Indoor Thermometer & Hygrometer with Humidity Gauge, Black, 0.3 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004K8RF1...t_i_14MGX3R9HNFDP3M9BE6N?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
