Acurite thermometer

I've got mine settin on the side, too, so it doesn't interfere with anything. It's holding around 99.4 with 43% humidity. Is that OK? Do they all waver a bit? I'm hoping so!!

I'm getting ready to load it--I'm so nervous!!

I'm sure the temp will drop when I put the eggs in--I'm assuming that's OK and that it will come back up like it should.

Cross your fingers!!

The temp and humidity will both drop when you set the eggs in...it will come back up takes a few hours or more...don't be nervous....you can always tweak the temp just alittle more but thats not bad..

What kind of bator?...

My Springfield has been the most accurate of all. I did have one that stopped working and I took it back and exchanged it. I like my Accurite also and agree with Tuff...take it out at the end of the hatch, take the batteries out and let it dry out completely.

I just set up my lg still air. I put in the therm. that came with it and a white springfied. The sprinfield reads 100/40 the lg reads 96. I am guessing the believe the sf, or should I go get another one? Then what if that is different? I can see me ending up with five or six in there. It is funny years ago, I just set up an lg still air with the therm that came with it, never worried about it, usually got about 60% hatches, I was fine with that. Now I have been doing all this reading and am becoming paranoid! Plus the eggs' cost a lot more!

I have the hovabator 1583--sort of wish now I'd have spent the extra for the 1588!
I will for the next one

They've been in there 1 day now and the temp has been holding between 99.4 and 99.8. This is according to the Acurite. The little thermometer that came with it is right on 100--at least that's what it looks to me.
The humidity is at 43-45%.

Is it normal to have these little fluctuations? I'm assuming that it's OK.

I have seen the temp go down to 98.8 early this morning but the light came on and back up it went to 99.4. Do I have it set too low? Please tell me I haven't messed it up already!!

Your fine..I have a 1583 and I've never had to adjust my temp in it from the first I turned it on and set it...

your house humidity can play a part in the humidity in the bator...its fine what yours is doing..
