Hello!

I've got a handful of questions about using apple cider vinegar. Between recovering from heavy parasite loads, the temperature changes, and (in some birds) diarrhea, they're pretty stressed. Lost two already. I'm hoping the ACV will give 'em an extra boost and help prevent more deaths.

1. What is the recommended amount of ACV per gallon of water?

2. Will the ACV help alleviate the diarrhea?
(ETA: The diarrhea didn't start until they began eating the latest batch of feed I produced... I think I may have had a bad batch of soybean meal. Fertrell Nutri-Balancer is added to the feed, and it contains probiotics so... maybe ACV isn't nessecary?)

3. Will ACV interfere with wormer or antibiotic usage?

4. How often should they be given ACV?

Thank you for taking the time to read and possibly answer. :)

1. Usually a tablespoon or two per gallon

2. This depends massively on why it's happening. 'Maybe' is kind of the only answer here. It might help, it might hinder.

3. Regular ACV will not but also doesn't do much other than give a little vitamin C. Unpasteurized ACV will not interfere with wormers but may with antibiotics. It's a source of probiotics, so give it inbetween doses of antibiotics or after the antibiotics are done for the best results.

4. As often as you like. Some so it daily some once a year.

1 TBS per gallon of water. Make sure it's the one with the mother.

I don't know if it will help alleviate symptoms of diarrhea. It shouldn't harm antibiotics or wormer.

I only give ACV once a week, you can do it as often as you want.

I do it more for keeping my waters clean than anything, I don't use it to prevent anything or for any certain purpose.

I'd do a round or two of probiotic supplements even though the food contains them.
Personal experience has taught me that sometimes the amounts added aren't satisfactory.
You could even go the sauerkraut of yougart road if you don't trust supplements.:)

Mix it into their crumble feed and warm it a bit , or mix it with mealworms.
Picky birds will eat the youguart trying for the worms and the warm crumble mixture im guessing just tastes nice.:)
I have tried give yogurt to my younger chicks when I was worried about their health. I couldn’t get them to eat it for anything!! What’s the secret?

Before pinning hopes on a questionable panacea,
I'd look at their regular diet and the parasite treatments that were employed.
What parasites and how and what did you treat with?
What all and how exactly are you feeding?
Were the birds that died necropsied to find cause of death?
