Add me to the list of Dumped! Central Indiana

there should be several rescues where you live. That would come and get him. I might be able to find some info and phone numbers for them. The rescues will get him his shots and also get him fixed before finding him a home.

Thanks Carole, this dog is going to make someone very happy! If circumstances were different, I would love to have him too but it is impossible.

Poor fella! His master truly did dump him. We think someone did this recently where we live, because on the side of the road was an extremely emaciated, young Great Dane. We found him later and he had no intention of being left again! He's living the high life with a veterinarian now.

Unfortunately, black dogs have little chance statistically of being adopted from shelters.

Some Humane Societies DO have a policy of euthanizing all pits that come in. I picked up a big goofy male pit off the side of the interstate (yeah, yeah... probably a bad idea, but he was running in the traffic! Either he or some person was going to come to a bad end). When I took him to the Humane Society she told me point blank they would put him down if his owner didn't show up within three days. I asked about what would happen if someone wanted to adopt him and she said they NEVER adopted out pits. If I had had a yard at that time he would have come back home with me! As it was I had to leave him. I left in tears. The lady did call me later to tell me the owner had come to get him. YAY! Since then I have been learly of taking any stray to the Humane Society and generally try to steer people towards private no-kill groups.

(I too seem to be a stray dog magnet. I swear there is a secret dog sign on the fence that leads them here!)

He's a cutie pie for sure! Fingers crossed that the lady and son will take him!

I was just going to say to check a rescue organization - someone beat me to it. I couldn't tell what he was but Pit/Boxer was suggested. Maybe a bit of lab in him? If you send the pic to a rescue organization maybe someone will come take him off your hands. Definitely a better option than automatic death sentence at the pound...

Thanks guys! I will keep you all updated. I do know that they put animals down here after so many days, I don't know about pits. I am praying it doesn't come to that. He's such a good boy!! I just went out to check on him and he was chewing on a big stick, he's still teething in the back of his mouth. So he's a pretty young pup.

Yes, the owner did dump him for sure, I actually started screamig some choice words at the guy in the car after he started driving away. I was so mad but then again, I am glad he is here and not road kill, he will have a home with someone who truly wants him, I hope

Definately! He's a cutie! This guy dropped him off right in front of you?! The nerve. How horrible is that for the poor little guy?

At least he ran up to you. He knew that you are a kind soul. It makes me want to just cry.

Yep, the guy dumped him right in front of us, he didn't even bother getting out of the car, he opend the back door from the front and shooed him out of the back seat. It's pathetic!
