they are rhode island reds, and rhode island newhampshire cross. they just turned a year old. the guy i bought them from had 250 birds and was down to 50 when i got mine. they were all cooped up in a building together with no outside run. he said he was getting alot of eggs. and needed to sell some. i have had my ten for two days and so far got 3 eggs on monday and 1 egg today. how long will it take for them to adjust to new souroundings and start laying regularlly.

It kind of depends. But if they are not too upset, and get used to things, they should start laying in a couple of days to a week. I have gotten new to me hens, and really had them settle in with a couple of days, and start laying. Their laying was a bit uneven for a week or so, but not much longer. mk

me too- I got two year old hens from a friend, and they laid sporadically for about a week, then settled in.
