Last saturday i got 3 white leghorn chicks. sunday morning one had passed on,so today i got 2 more. I was a little worried about how my other chicks would treat them but they seem to be getting along great they all get to eat and drink. But i have a ? my little hen always jumps into the feed bowl eats a little and then flings a little food out of the bowl why is she doing this. At first i thought she was to short for and couldnt eat any other way but she isent. Is this comman.

yep, just be glad they aren't all doing it. Try one of the feeders with the holes in it

ALL of my chicks were doing that! I ended up getting a feeder with holes in it and haven't had much issues other than them kicking some pine shaving into the feeder. But I can easily pick those out

thanks guys do you think i should keep my feeder or het a new one. My coop dosent really have anywhere were i could hang a feeder outside of it

If you put the feeder with holes in it on something to raise it up just a tad out of the bedding, there will be much less stuff kicked into it. Of course, they'll still jump on it, and poop in their food. *sigh*

After they are a few days old and getting around ok, I put my food and water on top of old phone books. They are great for absorbing spills.
