I wonder how that will go? They have been joined at the hip for 2 years, now we have (chicks 6-7 of them) that will be isolated from them til they are large enough coming into the coop. Any thoughts on what might go down? I thought that since there are more of them then the 2 girls it might go okay...

Two-year old chickens or two old chickens? Old chickens usually care little about new chicks since they understand that smalls are non-threatening. Also it depends on how old the chicks are when you introduce them. The older they are, the more chance the older hens will feel threatened.

Brooding chicks in close proximity to adult chickens is the best recipe for easy integration in my past and present experience.

When you move the youngsters to coop, arrange a temporary see-no-touch set up. Monitor reactions for a few days, maybe a couple weeks, and go from there.

Agrees, the younger the better.

It might help, depending on the demeanor of the older birds.

But how old are the chicks?
Pics of your coop and run, inside and out, would help garner suggestions.

Also....

The 2 girls I have are about 2 years young. I started with 5 birds but culled the 2 roosters and unexpectedly lost one girl about 6 months ago.
