Adding a duck! (Or Goose?)

Duck, Goose.. Or neither?

Ducks are somewhat quieter than geese, Muscovies especially. But if the pen is on the small side I personally wouldn't add ducks. They make a mess and chickens really don't like muddy pens-- it encourages disease and parasites, and chickens aren't waterproof so they can get soiled and stay soiled for a long time.

I have two ducks that my aunt hatched I love them they are very noisey, I have never had a goose but my moms brother had two when they were small the gander caused a lot of trouble like chasing them around. But it is your choice. Witch one do you want

I’d think so! It seems Mylied’s Tractor Supply is that way too so I hope so.

Will you be keeping the ducks and chickens together or separate? What sorta of set up were you thinking?

It depends what's best for everyone. I have room for another coop and run, if necessary, but I really don't think my parents would be too happy for another whole flock, so that's why I'm only thinking a few.

Aren't ducks really messy though?

Yes, at least what I've heard. But, I kept 50 quail at one point, so I think I should be alright. ;) Thank you for your concern, though.

Maybe a small separate run would be best. If you end up with any drakes they get pretty frisky and will try to mate your chickens, which could hurt them.

Ohh ok. By small, how small do you mean? I have the quail run, but it may be too small. I'll tell you the dimensions later.
