I currently have 10 isa brown hens and they are all just over a year old. I would like to add 10 more hens and a rooster they are 19 weeks old coming from the same farm I got the originals from. Should I still quarantine the new ones and will the rooster help reduce hen pecking?

There are varying opinions on quarantining new chickens. Personally, if I got them all from the same source, I wouldn't. I have added to my flock from now and then without doing it, but I only got them from trusted sources. I have never purchased a chicken from a show or swap. If I did, I probably would do it. I don't think the rooster is going to be much help until he establishes his place in the pecking order. From what I've observed, a rooster doesn't automatically become the flock leader - he has to earn it.
